Prioritizing the environment
Please tell us how you started growing plants.
I have always loved plants, and I have grown ornamental plants at home and at work. I used to often go to botanical gardens, etc. The reason I got really into it was from a senior manager. I had inherited a bonsai that I had been growing for nearly 70 years.
From the pressure that you must never give up. As I continued to study about plants, I started to like them even more. The number of bonsai grew steadily. Furthermore, they began collecting and growing plants from all over the world.
I am soothed by the beautiful appearance of plants every day, but the dormant period is coming to an end. I especially love when the buds sprout, and the feeling I get from that is irreplaceable.
Please tell us what you are aiming for, such as what you are careful about when growing plants, the layout, how to grow them, etc.
Since I am starting with bonsai, I created the ideal tree shape by pruning and wiping. My ultimate goal is to create The most important thing is not to let it wither.
The basics are sunlight conditions, irrigation level, According to the characteristics of the plant, such as ventilation and temperature. Our top priority is to improve the environment. Different plants have different conditions that they are not good at. When the temperature, humidity, and sunlight become dangerous for each plant We have created and are operating an alert system.
The method of growing must be changed depending on the strength and personality of the tree.
Have you ever felt like you failed when growing plants?
I receive information such as books superficially, There have been many times when I have had scorched leaves and water shortages. I think it's because I'm so tied up with information that I've overlooked changes in plants.
Plants are living things, so the frequency of watering and the way they are exposed to light are important. The environment in which the plants are placed, the amount and composition of soil, the vigor of the plants, and You have to change it depending on your personality etc.
To avoid repeating the same mistakes, we need to adjust the amount of sunlight, temperature, humidity, etc. I keep detailed records of each plant, including the frequency of watering. It's something I enjoy doing, but If you look at it from the side, it looks like it's working.
What are the important aspects of growing lights? What are the important aspects of growing lights?
The most important thing is whether it is suitable for growing plants. It does not match the natural environment of Japan at all, especially during the dormant period. For tuberous plants, I feel that the power of a growing light is absolutely necessary.
When starting to manage plants with a growing light, use multiple lights. I tried it for about half a year, and I noticed a big difference in the growth of my plants. Some lights tended to cause leaf burn and elongation, so I try to avoid using such lights.
The light of Amaterasu is like a big window in the room.
Please tell me the advantages and disadvantages of using BARREL's growing light.
I love Amaterasu's 20W and 10W, as well as the small electric fan Aechmea. Plants grow really well. In particular, winter-type tuberous plants and agave appear to have no problem with LED management all year round.
For summer-type tuberous plants such as Opel Krykaria and Pachypus, I feel that it is necessary to manage it with sunlight during the growing season, By exposing it to an LED indoors during the dormant period after December, It will stand up very well after spring.
In the recent example of Pakipus, indoor LED management started from mid-December. However, in the latter half of February, they started to sprout due to the LED environment, so I was able to safely wait until the temperature stabilized.
Amaterasu has little temperature change around the lighting. I especially like the wide beam angle. In addition, the light of Amaterasu is very close to natural light, It even gives the illusion of a large window in the room. I have a plant shelf in the room where I do desk work. I feel like I'm in nature and I feel great when I work.
For those who grow plants, please give a message to beginners and users.
I would be happy if the number of plant lovers increases. I think that the time you can spend without worrying about plants is very valuable in modern times.
What do plants mean to you?
I think it's the ultimate work of art. No two are the same, and the changes of the seasons, the harshness of nature, It makes you feel the strength of life and is like a mirror of yourself. I think this is the charm of plants.
thank you very much.
