#OWNER's VOICE File05

When I was a child The scenery in my memory I want to reproduce it

There is no “right answer” for aquariums, where there are many uncertainties.

What led you to start an aquarium?

Biotope is what got me into this hobby. My wife and daughter bought killifish in a plastic cup at a local supermarket. It all started when I bought three of them.

When you think of medaka, you think of biotope. While researching about biotopes on YouTube etc. Letting killifish swim in an artificially created natural environment in a water lily pot I thought I'd like to see it. From there, I posted a photo of Bio on Instagram. As I was posting, I became fascinated by the beauty of the indoor room.

I didn't have any hobbies when I grew up. For me, aquariums have become something that I am completely passionate about. Above all, let me feel the joy of creating a piece of work even if I'm not good at it. I think that's why I couldn't get out of it.

Is there anything you are particularly careful about or ingenious about your aquarium?

What I always keep in mind when doing this hobby is I mean, it doesn't always work out. More specifically, I try to think that most of the time I will make some sort of mistake.

At the beginning, I didn't understand that, so even just one type of aquatic plant is good. I was extremely depressed when it didn't grow. Just because of a single aquatic plant, I feel like my whole life is not going well (lol). But after failing so many times, I realized that failure is normal. I started thinking. Because every time I fail, something happens I want to study, but there are various things written on websites and books. Despite this, there is no definite statement that ``this is the correct answer''. I realized that there aren't that many.

In other words, there are a lot of uncertainties in aquariums, so you have to give it a try. I realized that I have a wide range of hobbies in areas that I don't understand. By realizing this, I became more tolerant of failures and troubles, I felt better mentally and was able to keep up with this hobby.

The most important thing is light that creates naturalness and fluctuations.

Do you have any particularly memorable failures with aquariums or terrariums?

I always make mistakes (lol), but when I create a layout, I I have made several mistakes that I made without thinking about management.

For example, in an aqua terrarium, The small pump is difficult to remove and cleaning cannot be done properly. I made the internal layout too complicated and it looked like it would collapse if I maintained it. I ended up focusing on recreating the scenery I had envisioned, There were times when I realized that it was difficult to maintain after it was completed.

It's not finished, so we'll clean the glass surface, clean the bottom floor, etc. We also lay out the layout so that subsequent daily management can be done stress-free. I think it's important. With self-discipline (lol).

Are there any particular considerations when it comes to lighting for aquariums and terrariums? Also, if you have any good points about Amaterasu or Tsukuyomi, please let me know.

I don't think there's just one point that I'm focusing on, but We place particular importance on the natural appearance of the light. I am a heavy user of Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi. These two lights provide high satisfaction in terms of naturalness. Because it emits the light that it produces.

I think each person has their own preferences, but Clear light without any unpleasant taste like Amaterasu or Tsukuyomi I feel that an illuminated aquarium is instantly beautiful. Its clear color is more like the transparency of water than other lighting. I think this light makes you feel the natural beauty of water.

Also, I think many users like it, It is a light that creates fluctuations. The fluctuation in the aquarium is like a babbling stream illuminated by the sun. You can imagine the scenery, even outside the aquarium. You can enjoy the flickering of reflected light like a shadow puppet.

And there is one other thing that has been very helpful to me personally. I often take pictures of aquariums with my smartphone to post them on SNS. Aquariums and terrariums illuminated by Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi It reproduces colors in photos that are comparable to those seen with the naked eye, There is no need for much photo processing.

When the aquarium is illuminated by other lighting, the color is completely different from what you see with the naked eye... I often feel depressed, Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi don't have that. It's a clear light without any unpleasant tastes.

I used to have an aqua terrarium made out of water lily pots. The moment I saw this work illuminated for the first time, I was moved. It was quite something. I was alone at home, I said, "Wow..." (lol).

Before I started this hobby, I was so impressed by light. I didn't think it would be given to me.

Two things to keep in mind to have fun

What kind of light do you think would be good for an aquarium or terrarium?

I think this will be a niche hope, but For example, a cylinder bottle (flower vase) with a height of 40cm or 50cm I wish there was a stand lighting that would match.

Currently, Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu are hung from above and illuminated. If you have a light with an integrated stand that has a certain height I wonder if there will be more freedom in where to install such an aquarium.

Lastly, please give a message to plant lovers and those who want to start an aquarium.

I don't have many years of experience, so I can't say much about it, but...plants are living creatures. Aquariums and terrariums are your hobby. In a situation where you feel like you have to do something I think it's a common hobby.

Of course I'm responsible for growing the plants, so I feel a sense of duty. I think it is inevitable that things will be born, There's something wrong with feeling too depressed because of a hobby.

What I am trying to do to avoid this is As I said earlier, don't expect too much from the training results. I'm trying to make short-term maintenance a habit. If you do maintenance all at once, It often takes a long time.

It's good because it's fun while I'm doing it. I guess I'll have to wait a long time again when it's time for the next maintenance... It is stressful to do maintenance such as I think this can happen.

That's why I don't do maintenance all at once, I try to do it in small portions, about 30 minutes a day. For a short period of time, there are hurdles to clear even if you don't feel like it. Since it's lower, you won't have to worry about standing in front of the aquarium.

For now, just grab the maintenance tools and put your hand in the water. It's something you can get excited about, so it's easy to start maintenance. I think it's important to create an environment.

What does an aquarium mean to you?

First of all, it's something that gives me the joy of making. It doesn't just mean the initial launch; Even after the launch, I continue to manage the day-to-day management and I can't help but enjoy getting closer to the scenery.

And I have a scene that I would like to recreate.

When I was a child I went to my parents' countryside and saw a stream. The view of the mountain was always in my mind, I would like to recreate the scenery in my memory in an aquarium or terrarium.

The dazzling sunlight makes the stream sparkle, Even in the shimmering water, the fish, stones, and sand on the bottom are beautifully illuminated. There is a shrine on the top of a small mountain, and along the way there is a Amidst the greenery, the ferns and moss glistening with morning dew give off a sense of life.

I want to make an aquarium or terrarium when I start What I thought of was the view of the waterfront and the greenery of the mountains. When I used the light of Amaterasu, I felt a strong emotion. I think it's because that kind of latent memory was shaken.

A view of the sparkling waterfront. A sense of life amidst the lush greenery. Aquariums and terrariums are within me. Something that fills your nostalgia. That's how I think.

thank you very much.
